Live from James Peak

Hi everybody,

Today’s adventure was hiking up James Peak,  a 7 mile round trip from our campsite up to 13,294 feet.    It was both figuratively and literally a high point so far and an altitude record for many of us.   We beat the afternoon thundershowers home and had a fantastic day with tremendous views in all directions.  We began by ascending the same galcier we played on yesterday, then fired across some beautiful alpine tundra before the final summit pyramid reared up ahead of us.  We summitted as a team minus one.  Matt’s temporary plastic prosthetic socket broke so he remained in camp to fight off the ground squirrels and marmots.  The remainder of the team came together helping each other out along the way.  Everyone felt strong and other than a few blisters there were no mishaps at all.  We pulled the round trip in a very respectful (and casual) six hours.  We are all so psyched for the next steps and are looking forward to Nepal.  So now it’s off to Lhakpa’s restaurant for some home made dhal bhat!
